Born: Sept. 16, 1946, Dayton, OH; died Feb. 24, 2015, Nacogdoches, TX

Mrs. Jan Blankenship passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital at the age of 68 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

Born Sept. 16, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Blankenship had been a longtime resident of Nacogdoches County, Texas. Jan had worked as a secretary and administrative assistant with business and public offices prior to her retirement.

Her survivors include her husband, George Langston Blankenship of Nacogdoches, Texas; son, Rusty Tate and wife Gina of Flint, Texas; daughter, Tessa Hall and husband Kevin of Longview, Texas; grandchildren, Easton Tate of Flint, Texas, and Alli Hall and Connor Hall of Longview, Texas; step-sons, David Blankenship and wife Lesa of Logansport, Louisiana, and Kenneth Blankenship and wife Tabatha of Chireno, Texas; step-daughter, Cathy Myers and husband Wesley of Center, Texas; siblings, Mary Kay Wilson and husband Mickey of Melrose, Texas, Tommy Sluterbeck and wife Janice of Nacogdoches, Texas, Cassandra Hall and husband Bill of New Hampshire, and Holly Cipriani and husband Tim of Boston, Massachusetts; step-sister, Sybil Miller of Beaumont, Texas; and a step-brother, Charles Christian of Jacksonville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Berman Sluterbeck and Mary Emma (Harris) and Charles Christian.

Services have been set for 3:30 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015, at Cason Monk-Metcalf's Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas. Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery, located on County Road 350 in the Attoyac Community. Officiating will be Dr. Allen Reed and Bro. Michael Dean.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be David Blankenship, Thomas Sluterbeck, Ronald Harris, Edgar Stanaland, Tim Hill, and James Harris.
