Orville "David" Shires Jr.
Orville "David" Shires Jr., 69, of Tyler, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, in Whitehouse.
David, a retired manager in various retail businesses, was born on Aug. 11, 1945, in Paris to Orville David and Letha Vesta (Jones) Shires. He grew up and attended school in Paris and Bullard, graduating from John Tyler High School in 1965. Following school he enlisted in the Air Force, but was later honorably discharged for medical reasons. He then went into retail management and worked in that field for many years, retiring in 2008.
He is survived by his stepfather, Elbert Jackson, of Whitehouse; siblings, Faye Cook, of Tyler, Dorothy and her husband Kenneth Rawlinson, of Mount Selman, Eddie Shires and his wife Rita, of Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 Texas Highway 64 West, Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015, also at the funeral home with Bro. Ron Moore and Bro. Tom Crawford officiating.
Private interment will follow in Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
