Services for Ruby Nell Hester, age 71 of Tyler, are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Trinity Fellowship Church in Tyler with Rev. G. W. Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Starrville Cemetery in the Starrville Community with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. Mrs. Hester died Thursday, August 31, 2017 at a nursing home in Tyler. She was born in Tyler on July 1, 1946 to the late Lee Douglas and Grace (Hitt) Hester. She was the second child of Doug and Grace and enjoyed crossword puzzles, animals, company of friends, Elvis, cards, and art work. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Alton and Olie Cooper, nephews, Layne Pugh, Alton Pugh, and Christopher Joseph Hester, sister, Paula Pugh, and brother, Joseph D. Hester. Mrs. Hester is survived by her daughter, Renee Cheatham of Chapel Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Paul Vandergriff of Flint; brother-in-law, Gaston Pugh of Red Springs; granddaughter, Hannah Simmons of Chapel Hill; niece, Dana Pugh of Red Springs; nephews, Ronnie Hester of Frisco; Jody Hester of Red Springs; Steven Pugh of Flint; and Russell Pugh of Red Springs; several great and great-great nieces and nephews and furry friends, Gizmo and Elsa that she loved so much. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Hester, Steven Pugh, Jeffrey Dowdle, Walter Wayne Bagwell, Roy Arrington, and Gordon Weispagh. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale. The family would like to specially thank Relva Featherstone, Ruby's sister-in-law, for being her closest friend through this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas Homeplace, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas 75701.
