Gloria and I stayed in touch since high school. We had the same wedding anniversary, May 27. Gloria and Al were married in 1966, and they attended mine and Ray's wedding in 1967. Gloria and I would talk every May 27 or so to wish each other a happy anniversary.

Gloria and Al had four children, and Ray and I had three. Gloria and Al had their oldest daughter, Lynette, first. Then I had our daughter, Lorinda, in December 1968, and Gloria and Al had their daughter, Kimberly, in January 1969 I believe. Then in August 1971 Gloria and Al had a son named Trey, and a month later Ray and I had our son, Christopher. Then in December 1973 I had our daughter, Melissa, and Gloria and Al had a son, Christopher. We loved sharing stories of our children and later our grandchildren.

After I found out Gloria had lung cancer, I called her frequently to check on her and to let her know I was thinking about her and praying for her.

Yes, she called me a day or so after our wedding anniversary, and we talked for a long time. She told me about the upcoming reunion, and we were both planning on going and were excited about seeing each other again.

I'm really going to miss Gloria and our talks. She was a very dear friend.

Gloria was one of the Lion Pack that I ran around with. Along with Jannie Adair and Mary Patterson. We spent endless hours dragging Broadway and drinking pickled Cokes at the Derrick. Unfortunately I lost touch with everyone after graduation.

I met Gloria again at the 20 year Class Reunion in 1984. We laughed about the old times and I told her she had not aged at all. To me, she looked the same as she did in High School.

I was shocked in seeing she had passed away.

Gloria was a gentle, caring person and a delight to be around. My memory of her will always bring a smile to my face.
