Mrs. Dew was my favorite instructor at John Tyler and one of my favorite teachers, ever. What a sweet, gentle, wise woman she was, always with that twinkle in her eye. It was in her class that I first heard about life in New York City-- she had a visiting former student of hers regale us with stories of his adventures attending Columbia University. I decided then and there that New York City was where I wanted to be. It took me a few years (and a few detours to Austin, St. Louis, MO, and New Haven, CT), but I finally made it-- I've lived in Manhattan since 1971.
